New Apprentice Electrician
Apprentice Electrician
New License Cost: 20.00
New Apprentice Electricians: If you have never held a Wyoming Apprentice License you must begin the processes of licensing within 10 days of the start of employment.
OJT Form: If you have On the Job Training (OJT) from another state under a licensed contractor and supervised by a licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician, you may submit those hours at your initial application ONLY. You can not submit hours past 6/30 of the current apprentice year. You will need to provide a OJT form or a letter from your out of state past or present employer. These documents will be reviewed to determine if they can be credited to your new license. A link below is there for you to download a copy of a Wyoming OJT form to give to your out of state employer(s).
Apprentice Electrician OJT Form
OJT Letter: If providing a letter from past or current out of state employer(s) it must be on a company letterhead with your name on it and include a breakdown by year of the hours you worked in residential, commercial and industrial. It must include the company and supervisors licenses numbers and be signed and notarized by the employer.
Previous and Existing License Form: You will need to fill out and upload into your application a Previous and Existing License Form that lists the licenses in which you are requesting OJT credit. You must also list any and all licenses you have held even if not requesting OJT credit.
Apprentice Education: You may also submit any previous apprenticeship education at this time. It must be from a bona fide program of training approved by The Office of Apprenticeship, United States Department of Labor or present transcripts from a training equivalent to a program approved by The Office of Apprenticeship, United States Department of Labor.

Applying For Your License
Create Your Account:
1. Create an eLicense portal account if you do not have one already.
2. You will need to wait until you receive an email giving you a link to set your password and access your eLicense portal account.
3. You will then upload a copy of your government issued ID or passport. Instructions to do this will be on t the landing page when you first log into the eLicense portal AFTER setting up your password.
4. Your ID MUST BE VERIFIED! You will be licensed per your legal name. Once your ID has been verified you will receive an email
notifying you that your account has been set to active and you can log in again to start your application.
Applying For Your License:
1. On the left side of your screen click on applications.
2. Choose the application you want and click on the yellow "APPLY NOW" button.
a. You will verify your demographic information and you can upload your OJT and School documents via the Upload button INSIDE THE APPLICATION. Then click the word today and electronically sign your application with the password you use to access your account.
4. You will receive an email notifying you your application has been submitted.
a. Your application will be reviewed. If there is an issue with your documents you will be sent an email concerning any issues and how to resolve them.
b. If your application has no issues you will receive an email notifying you that your application is available for payment.
To Pay:
1. Log into your eLicense portal account.
2. Click on "CHECKOUT" on the left side of the screen or On the bottom right corner of the page you will see the word "CHECK OUT".
Either option to be taken to the payment portal.
Some common errors with payment:
We ONLY accept Visa or MasterCard.
When entering your expiration it is a 2 digit month separated by a – not a / followed by the 4 digit year.
Receiving Your License:
Once you have paid for the license you will be emailed your license. It will be coming from:noreply@imagetrend.com Make sure to check your spam before calling. We no longer mail licenses.

Reciprocal Licenses - Journeyman and Master Electricians
Reciprocal Licensing:
Journeyman: 100.00
Master Electrician: 200.00
The State of Wyoming has a reciprocal Journeyman Electrician license agreement with the following states:
Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas and Iowa
The State of Wyoming has a reciprocal Master Electrician license agreement with the following states:
Idaho, South Dakota and Iowa
Reciprocal licenses can be obtained through the Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety. Before submitting an application be sure you meet all requirements for this method of licensure. If you meet the licensing requirements listed below you may proceed with submitting your application. Reciprocation only exempts you from the exam not licensure requirements.
WYOMING RECIPROCAL JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN LICENSE:
The State Of Wyoming must have a reciprocal agreement with the state you are reciprocating from.
You will need to have obtained your license from the state that you are reciprocating from by examination, with a score of 70% or greater and held it for a minimum of 1 year from the date of examination.
The license is required to be in good in standing with no violations.
The applicant must meet the State of Wyoming licensing requirements for Journeyman: 8000 OJT (On The Job training) and 4 years (576 hours) of apprenticeship schooling from an approved Department of Labor school.
The 8000 hours of OJT as an apprentice and examination date and score will be verified through (NERA) by our agency.
Provide a copy of your current Journeyman electrician card from the state you are reciprocating
Provide a copy of apprentice education transcript
Provide a copy of your 16 hours of CEUs (Continuing Education Units), 8 of the 16 hours must be from a code related course. The 16 hours must be completed within a 3 year period since the last license renewal.
WYOMING RECIPROCAL MASTER ELECTRICIAN LICENSE:
The State Of Wyoming must have a reciprocal agreement with the state you are reciprocating from.
You will need to have obtained your license from the state that you are reciprocating from by examination, with a score of 75% or greater and held it for a minimum of 1 year from the date of examination.
The license is required to be in good in standing with no violations.
The applicant must meet the State of Wyoming licensing requirements for Master Electricians: Held their Journeyman license for 4 years, 8000 OJT (On The Job training) as a Journeyman Electrician and 4 years (576 hours) of apprenticeship schooling from an approved Department of Labor school.
The 8000 hours of OJT as an apprentice and examination date and score will be verified through (NERA) by our agency.

Additional Information
***Important*** You are eligible to reciprocate your electrician’s license to the State Of Wyoming one (1) time. If you allow your reciprocated Wyoming license to lapse/expire, you are not eligible to reciprocate your license again. You will be required to obtain a Wyoming license by examination.
Anyone who has tested and failed for a Master or Journeyman electrical license, within the state of Wyoming, is not eligible for a reciprocal license until they have held a license from their primary state for a period of three (3) years. You must show proof of an approved continuing education seminar(s) totaling (16) hours. Eight (8) of the required sixteen (16) hours must be code. This is enforced in the State of Wyoming .
Licenses that are “grandfathered- in” are not eligible for reciprocation.

A copy of your government issued ID (Driver’s license, State ID or Passport) & your current Journeyman or Masters license uploaded and saved to the device or computer you will be using for handling your eLicense portal account.
A copy of your apprenticeship schooling documentation uploaded to the device or computer you will be using. This document will be uploaded INSIDE the reciprocal application AFTER your account has been verified.
A Unique personal email address. Only 1 email address may be used per account and it should be your email address not your employers. This is your license and your account!

Low Voltage/Limited Technician Exam Qualifications
Low Voltage Technician
Low Voltage Technician is defined as a person licensed by the Department who has 2 years (4,000 hours) experience in the portion of the electrical wiring industry covered by his/her low voltage license and technical knowledge to install and supervise the installation of electrical equipment associated with the type of low voltage electrical license held in accordance with the National Electrical Code and city, county and state ordinances and regulations.
Acceptable Forms of Work Verification History: Work experience shall be documented by notarized letters or the employment verification form from employers (past and present), notarized letters from local unions, or official letters from other licensing boards detailing the duration (actual number of hours) and character of the work.
Low Voltage/Limited Technician Work Verification Form
Low Voltage Technician licenses:
LV-G Low voltage work for all categories under 90 volts listed below (4,000 Hours)
LV-A Low voltage work for alarm systems under 90 volts (3,000 Hours)
LV-C Low voltage work for communication systems under 90 volts (500 Hours)
LV-S Low voltage work for sound systems under 90 volts (500 Hours)
LV-T Low voltage work for television and satellite systems under 90 volts (500 Hours)
LV-X Low voltage work for control systems under 90 volts (1,000 Hours)
LV-LS Low voltage work for lawn sprinkler systems under 90 volts (80 Hours)
Limited Technician
Limited Technician is defined as a person licensed by the Department who has 2 years (4,000 hours)
experience in the portion of the electrical wiring industry covered by his limited license and technical knowledge to install and supervise the installation of electrical equipment associated with the type of limited electrical license held in accordance with the National Electrical Code and city, county and state ordinances and regulations.

Limited Technician licenses:
LM-E Electrical work for elevator systems limited to electrical work on the load side of the equipment disconnect
(4,000 Hours)
LM-S Electrical work for electric signs limited to electrical work on the load side of the equipment disconnect
(4,000 Hours)
LM-W Electrical work for water well and irrigation systems limited to electrical work on the load side of the equipment disconnect (4,000 Hours)
LM-L Limited electrical work for maintaining light fixtures (1,000 Hours)
LM-H Limited electrical work for heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems limited to electrical work on the load side of the equipment disconnect (4,000 Hours)
Any Technician performing low voltage work in the State of Wyoming shall be employed at all times by a Low voltage/Limited Contractor who carries a current Wyoming Low Voltage/Limited Contractor's license.
NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE The State of Wyoming adopts the National Electrical Code without modification. The examinations for licenses are based on the current edition of the National Electrical Code.
Licensing: Once the applicant has passed the examination, the applicant will upload their pass letter into their eLicense portal account. The initial license fee will be $100.00.
Maintaining Your Technician License: The Technician's license is valid for 3 years, renewing on July 1st of every 3rd year. The renewal fee will be $50.00. This fee will be paid through the licensee's eLicense portal account.
Additional Information: Any Technician who fails to pass the examination and obtain the proper license or fails to perform all electrical work while working for a licensed electrical contractor, will be subject to fines or license suspension as stated in Wyoming Statue 35-9-130.
LICENSE REFUSAL, SUSPENSION, REVOCATION, AND APPEAL: The Electrical Board may, at its discretion and for good cause shown, refuse to issue a license to any person, firm, or corporation, or may suspend or revoke an existing license for, but not limited to, the following reasons:
(a) Continued and/or flagrant violations of the Wyoming Statutes, Rules and Regulations promulgated by the Electrical Board or National Electrical Code.
(b) Aiding or abetting, counseling, encouraging, hiring, commanding, or otherwise procuring another to violate the
provisions of the Wyoming Statutes Rules and Regulations as promulgated by the Electrical Board, or the National
Electrical Code.
Appeals: shall be taken as provided in current Wyoming Statutes and the current Rules and Regulations.

Journeyman Electrician Exam Qualifications
JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN EXAM
QUALIFICATIONS: For an applicant to take the Wyoming Journeyman electrician’s exam, the applicant must present evidence of 4 years (8,000 hours) of work experience in the electrical wiring industry and 144 hours per year, or 576 hours over a four year apprenticeship, of successfully completed electrically related classroom instruction obtained through a Department of Labor approved electrical apprenticeship training program. This work history must include evidence of experience in planning, laying out, and NEC and shall have been under the direct supervision of a qualifying electrician for a licensed electrical contractor. Electrical work experience is to consist of electrical installation in residential, commercial, and industrial categories. No more than 75% of the 4 years (8,000 hours) may be in any one category. Up to 2 years (4,000 hours) credit may be given for study of electrically related courses taken through an accredited school exceeding the 576 hours required. For electrical experience gained in the military to be considered, you must upload a copy of your DD-214 form in the application.
Exemption to education. An applicant for a journeyman electrician or master electrician license must also present evidence of 144 hours per year, or 576 hours over a four year apprenticeship, of successfully completed electrically related classroom instruction obtained through approved electrical apprenticeship training programs. If 576 hours of classroom instruction cannot be provided, an applicant may qualify for the exam if evidence of 10 years and 20,000 hours of on the job training experience as a licensed journeyman or master electrician is provided and approved by the Chief Electrical Inspector.
Acceptable Education Documents: Schooling experience shall be documented by official transcripts, which indicate the number of credit hours or the actual number of classroom (seat) hours of the electrically related courses. You can provide notarized letters from local unions, or official letters from other licensing boards. For electrical experience gained in the military to be considered, you must upload a copy of your DD-214 form in the application. You may also submit a JST (Joint Service Transcript) along with your DD-214 for further clarification of electrically related courses taken.
Acceptable Forms of Work Verification History: Work experience shall be documented by notarized letters or the employment verification form from employers (past and present), notarized letters from local unions, or official letters from other licensing boards detailing the duration (actual number of hours) and character of the work. For electrical experience gained in the military to be considered, you must include a copy of your DD-214 form with this application. A copy of a current electrical license from another state licensing board, which has work history requirements equal to or more stringent than the 4 year (8,000 hour) requirement of the State of Wyoming, may be acceptable as proof of work history.
Journeyman and Master Work Verification Form
Any Journeyman Electrician performing electrical work in the State of Wyoming shall be employed at all times by an Electrical Contractor who carries a current Wyoming Electrical Contractor’s license.

To be acceptable, all courses must have prior Electrical board approval. At least 8 of these 16 hours must be from a course that specifically covers the National Electrical Code. The 16 hours must be obtained between the date of issuance and the date of expiration of the license.
Additional Information: Any Journeyman electrician who fails to pass the examination and obtain the proper license or fails to perform all electrical work while working for a licensed electrical contractor, will be subject to fines or license suspension as stated in Wyoming Statue 35-9-130.

Master Electrician Exam Qualifications
MASTER ELECTRICIAN EXAM
Qualifications: For an applicant to take the Wyoming Master electrician’s exam, the applicant must present evidence of 8 years (16,000 hours) of work experience in the electrical wiring industry, of which 4 years (8,000 hours) is documented as a licensed journeyman, and 576 hours of electrically related classroom instruction required. This work history must include evidence of experience in planning, laying out, and NEC and shall have been under the direct supervision of a qualifying electrician for a licensed electrical contractor. Electrical work experience is to consist of electrical installation in residential, commercial, and industrial categories.
Exemption to education.
An applicant for a journeyman electrician or master electrician license must also present evidence of 144 hours per year, or 576 hours
over a four year apprenticeship, of successfully completed electrically related classroom instruction obtained through approved
electrical
apprenticeship training programs. If 576 hours of classroom instruction cannot be provided, an applicant may qualify for the exam if
evidence of 10 years and 20,000 hours of on the job training experience as a licensed journeyman or master electrician is provided and
approved by the Chief Electrical Inspector.
Acceptable Education Documents: Schooling experience shall be documented by official transcripts, which indicate the number of credit hours or the actual number of classroom (seat) hours of the electrically related courses. You can provide notarized letters from local unions, or official letters from other licensing boards. For electrical experience gained in the military to be considered, you must upload a copy of your DD-214 form in the application. You may also submit a JST (Joint Service Transcript) along with your DD-214 for further clarification of electrically related courses taken.
Acceptable Forms of Work Verification History: Work experience shall be documented by notarized letters or the employment verification form from employers (past and present), notarized letters from local unions, or official letters from other licensing boards detailing the duration (actual number of hours) and character of the work. For electrical experience gained in the military to be considered, you must include a copy of your DD-214 form with this application. A copy of a current electrical license from another state licensing board, which has work history requirements equal to or more stringent than the 8 year (16,000 hour) requirement of the State of Wyoming, may be acceptable as proof of work history.
Journeyman and Master Work Verification Form
Any Master Electrician performing electrical work in the State of Wyoming shall be employed at all times by an Electrical Contractor who carries a current Wyoming Electrical Contractor’s license.
NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE The State of Wyoming adopts the National Electrical Code without modification. The examinations for licenses are based on the current edition of the National Electrical Code.
Licensing: Once the applicant has passed the examination, the applicant will upload their pass letter into their eLicense portal account. The initial license fee will be $200.00.
Maintaining Your Master Electrician License:The Master Electrician’s license is valid for 3 years, renewing on July 1st of every 3rd year. The renewal fee will be $100.00. These fees will be paid through the licensee's eLicense portal account. The license holder must obtain at least 16 hours of approved update education prior to renewing the license.
To be acceptable, all courses must have prior Electrical board approval. At least 8 of these 16 hours must be from a course that specifically covers the National Electrical Code. The 16 hours must be obtained between the date of issuance and the date of expiration of the license.
Additional Information: Any Master Electrician who fails to pass the examination and obtain the proper license or fails to perform all electrical work while working for a licensed electrical contractor, will be subject to fines or license suspension as stated in Wyoming Statue 35-9-130.
LICENSE REFUSAL, SUSPENSION, REVOCATION, AND APPEAL: The Electrical Board may, at its discretion and for good cause shown, refuse to issue a license to any person, firm, or corporation, or may suspend or revoke an existing license for, but not limited to, the following reasons:
(a) Continued and/or flagrant violations of the Wyoming Statutes, Rules and Regulations promulgated by the
Electrical Board or National Electrical Code.
(b) Aiding or abetting, counseling, encouraging, hiring, commanding, or otherwise procuring another to violate the provisions of the Wyoming Statutes Rules and Regulations as promulgated by the Electrical Board, or the National Electrical Code.
Appeals: shall be taken as provided in current Wyoming Statutes and the current Rules and Regulations.
Applying For Your Master Electrician Exam
Items To Gather Before You Apply:
A copy of your government issued ID (Driver’s license, State ID or Passport) & your current Journeyman or Masters license uploaded and saved to the device or computer you will be using for handling your eLicense portal account.
A copy of your apprenticeship schooling documentation uploaded to the device or computer you will be using. This document will be uploaded INSIDE the reciprocal application AFTER your account has been verified.
A Unique personal email address. Only 1 email address may be used per account and it should be your email address not your employers. This is your license and your account!

Apprentice Electrician Renewal and Reinstatement

Renewals and Reinstatement's for Apprentice Electricians:
If you have or have had a Wyoming Apprentice License listed below are the guidelines for the renewal of your license.
OJT Form: If you have On the Job Training (OJT) you will need to submit a OJT form completed by your employer and signed by the licensed Journeyman or Master Electrician you worked under. This will need to include a breakdown on the hours you worked in each industry residential, commercial and industrial. This form must be filled out in its entirety and uploaded inside your apprentice renewal application. Failure to do so may result in delayed processing or denial of your application.
Apprentice Electrician OJT Form
The Apprentice Year: The apprentice year runs from 7/1 of the previous year to 6/30 of the current year. If you try to submit OJT from a previous year or after the current apprentice year date you application will denied until you submit a correct OJT form with the current apprentice year and hours.
Apprentice Education: You will upload in your apprentice application apprenticeship education you have obtained during this apprentice year. It must be from a bona fide program of training approved by The Office of Apprenticeship, United States Department of Labor or present transcripts from a training equivalent to a program approved by The Office of Apprenticeship, United States Department of Labor.

Either option to be taken to the payment portal.

Low Voltage and Limited Technicians:

Renewal period opens 90 days before expiration date: 4/1 of the year before your expiration and closes 7/1 of your expiration year.
You have a 45 day grace period after the expiration date of your license to renew. You will incur a 50.00 late fee in addition to the renewal fee if you renew in the grace period. If you exceed the 45 day grace period your only method to licensure will be to apply and sit for the Low Voltage/Limited exam again. You'll be licensed with your expired license number. The fee is $100.00 for the license plus testing fees (testing fees are paid to the testing facility). A new exam application will need to be submitted.
Continuing education is not required for Technicians.

When entering your expiration it is a 2 digit month separated by a – not a / followed by the 4 digit year.
RECEIVING YOUR LICENSE:
Once you have paid your license will be emailed to you. It will be coming from noreply@imagetrend.com. Make sure to check your spam before calling. We no longer mail licenses.
