Plan Review Information
A Plan Review is required for all of the following (Wyoming State Statute; 35-9-108):
Construction of, additions to, or extensions of:
state/local government owned/leased buildings, or
schools, or
buildings over 5000 sq.ft in total area with public access such as a business, or
child care centers for more than 10 children, or
multi-story buildings, or
places of assembly regardless of size.
Alterations and remodeling of the above buildings with a valuation of $40,000 or greater using the ICC Building Valuation Data Square Foot Construction Costs table. ICC Square Foot Construction Costs
Change of occupancy type or use to become one of the above buildings
Installation, addition, or alteration of fire protection systems (i.e. fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire suppression) regardless of size or valuation.
Alternative Energy installation or alteration ( solar, residential wind, generator, etc.)
Installations of Above Ground Storage Tanks, or Dispensing facilities for flammable or combustible liquids.
Type I Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Hood installations
Spray finish applications
Site plans for RV, camping, mobile home, and similar parks/areas to ensure electrical safety and fire department access.
All new plan review submissions from, October 1, 2021 and until further notice, must be compliant with the adopted state codes and referenced standards: 2024 International Fire Code, 2024 International Building Code, 2024 International Fuel & Gas Code, 2024 International Mechanical Code, 2024 International Existing Building Code and the 2023 edition of the National Electrical Code. .

Plan Review Process:
Go to: "Wyoming State Fire Marshal's eLicensing, ePermit, and ePayment Portal" to create your account and apply for your Plan Review(s). (Portal Link is Below)
Plans shall be submitted to the Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety for Review and Approval before any work shall commence.
Submittals shall include Complete Plans and Specifications showing all applicable information indicated on the appropriate Plan Review Checklist(s).
Plans shall be Accepted or Rejected for Review within 5 business days of date of receipt.
Review of Complete Submittals shall be completed within 21 business days of date of acceptance. If additional information is found to be needed during the Plan Review, the Plan Review shall be completed within 10 business days of the receipt of all of the additional information requested, or the original 21 business days whichever is greater.
Valuation shall be calculated using current International Code Council Valuation Table.
Review Fees shall be calculated using fee schedule in the Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety Rules Chapter 2; Section 3.
Applicant will be notified of the fees due when the plans are Accepted. Fees shall be paid prior to issuance of a Permit to Construct.
No work shall be done before the Permit to Construct is issued.

State of Wyoming Adopted Codes
In the State of Wyoming on June 28, 2024 adopted the 2024 International Codes.
The following codes apply:
2024 International Fire Code
2024 International Building Code
2024 International Fuel & Gas Code
2024 International Mechanical Code
2024 International Existing Building Code
2023 edition of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70, 2020)
Effective July 1, 2023 the 2023 edition of the National Electrical Code will be in effect.
